TmoNews reported this morning that owners of the seemingly-neglected Samsung Behold II have started receiving OTA updates beginning yesterday and lasting through Friday, the 25th. You might recall the fact that the Behold II has been the focus of a little bit of controversy among its owners, as most claimed to have purchased the device with the expectation that Samsung would be fulfilling a promise to update the phone’s software to a 2.x build eventually. This particular update brings the build from 1.5 to 1.6, and Samsung has apparently admitted that’s as far as this particular phone is going to go.
In all fairness, 1.6 (Donut) is actually a pretty impressive build, and a much better experience overall than what Behold II owners will be used to with 1.5. And Samsung will be delivering some extra goodies in this update. Along with the Google Maps navigation and Google Voice compatibility that comes with 1.6, this build also comes with the Swype keyboard and many bug fixes as well, which should give a little “freshness” to the device.
So how does this make you feel, Behold II owners? Is this enough for you, or are you still upset to be left out of the 2.x circles?
