Root your HTC EVO in 3-clicks. Yes, I said 3.

I’ve been hesitant to root my HTC EVO because I haven’t seen any stable ROM’s worth switching to until recently. There is now a root method so easy that I’m probably going to take the dive later tonight.
Simple Root is a Windows-only process for rooting your HTC EVO in three-clicks. After installing a couple of required programs, users click Root, click Unlock Nand, and then click Flash Recovery. Just like that, your phone is now rooted and ready to install custom ROM’s. There’s some educational value in doing some of the longer, manual root processes, but I’m lazy and prefer to have my hand held. I’m sure plenty of people appreciate the simplicity of this method as well.
All of the tools and instructions you’ll need are available in this XDA thread started by the inventors. If you’re looking for even more information, be sure to view the YouTube videos in the thread. Be sure to read and follow instructions or you may end up with a phone that doesn’t work.
I’ll be back later with some thoughts on my own personal experience once I’ve gone through the process.

Won't work if you downloaded the recent OTA updates.
Andrew, You mention that you hadn't seen a ROM worth switching to until recently. I've rooted my EVO, and messed around with a couple of ROMs, but haven't been blown away yet (not like CM5 on my G1). What ROM did you choose to install?
Any work around for the latest OTA update?
