IMDb has arrived on Android to settle the daily arguments that occur when friends are out to lunch or a bar and discuss which movies star which actors. The next time your friend swears on his life that it was Benicio Del Toro who appeared in 13th Warrior and not Antonio Benderas, IMDb will be the official push you need to set him straight.
Most web users should be familiar with the Internet Movie Database, known as IMDb for short. It is the go-to source for information on a particular film, television show, or actor/director/writer. A quick search can reveal the cast of a film or an actor’s complete filmography and awards. If you’re also looking for information about the work of a director or writer, there’s a good chance that IMDb will have the information that you seek.
The mobile app, IMDb Movies & TV, provides this information on Android phones, as well as the following information:
- Links to watch trailers
- Ratings, Release date, and Genre information
- Plot summaries and Synopsis
- Cast and crew
- Critical and user reviews
- Trivia, quotes, and goofs
- Links to buy on Amazon
I’ve previously relied on one of my Wikipedia apps to obtain this type of information, but IMDb has more complete and reliable data for these kinds of things. The app is available for free in the Android Market. If you’re reading this from your phone, click here to download from the Market. Desktop users can scan this QR code below:
