HTC will deliver Froyo updates beginning in Q3

Keep your cynic hat on, but HTC has confirmed that Froyo will be available for select Android devices next quarter. Recombu got word from an HTC spokesperson that it’s in the process of updating HTC Sense to Android 2.2, meaning some device owners could have a shorter wait for the latest version of Android than they have traditionally experienced.
The official word from HTC reads as follows:
“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.”
Q3 2010 begins in a few days, but we definitely won’t be seeing it in the immediate future. The “beginning in Q3″ actually refers to that’s when the first group of phones – in this case the Desire, Legend, and Wildfire – will see an update. Froyo was only finalized and released last week to partners, meaning it will probably be a month or two before we see any Sense device make the jump to Android 2.2.
HTC doesn't have to wait for for final version to begin to work on new sense version for froyo.
Beta is out since a several weeks now.
Anyone know what Sense provides that can't be delivered through the android market? Just trying to figure out why they don't just give us the option of getting the latest bare bones Android and installing what we want instead of making us wait while they are "working hard" to update apps that we may not even care about. I'm guessing it is a lot easier to prepare a basic android update than it is to update and qa all of their code. It is easier for them and easier for us. Can they not limit their market apps to specific htc phones?
i'm a newbie on android (technically, i'm not even a newbie, i'm still waiting for my Incredible to ship here), but from playing with the Droid and my cousin's G1, i love HTC sense on the Incredible. It's very slick and honestly, very iPHone-like, which is why i like it. I was one of those holding out for an apple iphone, but well, life happens, and my phone (env2) got stolen, and i cna't stand the phone i'm on now.
IN ANY CASE, i do like htc sense a lot and it's very slick and nice. i am choosing the incredible over the droid x cuz of it, among other things.
does anybody have a clue about when Froyo 2.2 will be out for the Incredible?
and when exactly is quarter 3?

Q3 is the third quarter of the year so 1-3, 4-6, 7-9…. July through September
