Verizon Droid Eris 2.1 update ACTUALLY rolling out

It seems as if Verizon is really rolling out the Android 2.1 update for the Droid Eris, except at this point its been going out on a limited basis. That said, they have been talking about it almost no-stop on their Twitter account. I spend a few minutes reading through the mess, which appears to consists mostly of Verizon answering the same questions over and over. Still, a few tidbits from their stream include details such as;
“The roll out will begin 5/11 and can take up to 2 weeks to receive for all phones.”
And when asked if there was a way to force the update they replied with a simple;
“No way to force it the release is random and once you receive it you will receive a notification.”
And interestingly enough;
“No it can only be installed through the ota.”
I guess at this point the only thing we can do it sit back and wait and hope that we receive the update notification alert. So far nothing yet here, and given the odds (I have three Eris on hand) you would think I have a slightly better chance of seeing it at least once.

I got it this morning – and sync'ed my contacts like it said. But when I go to them – "this application is not installed". Not Nice! Help is appreciated.

I'll believe it when I see it.
I have the update installed now. It took about 20 minutes or so and I don't have any issues with any apps on it at this point. It's not much quicker than what it was, but it's definitely not slower. It looks a lot like the screenshots of 2.1 that I've seen so far. I'll try to get some pictures here in a little bit when I find another phone to steal to take pictures with. I'm in PA and my update was showing on my top bar when I got up and looked at it at 6:30 this morning.
Nice! Now hopefully this means that the Sprint update for the Hero can’t be too far off.
If i updated my eris to 2.1 already by boot updating a zip file, will i still get the update? the version that i'm running has problems with some apps and i would like to get the official update if at all possible. Is there a way to switch back uninstall 2.1 on my phone and go back to 1.5 and get the OTA update?
i rooted my droid eris to weeks ago uhm them i shatterd the screen and i got my new one in tha mail so hopefully i get th update when i activate my phone i am never rooting my phone agin….

if you clear your notifications accidentally does that preclude you from downloading the update? or will it still show under system updates?

It might not be based on location only. My Wife and I both have the Eris but she got the updated and I didn't.

my wife and daughter got the update this morning. Both updates went smoothly – contacts and data retained. some screens were cleared and needed to be set up again. We are in the SF Bay Area. what’s up with women first….?
I got the droid eris 2.1 update this morning. much better than the 1.5
Got it this morning. Had to update homescreen icons, wallpaper etc., but that's to be expected. Everything working fine, except YouTube, which keeps saying my account password needs to be reentered. I do that properly (even confirmed on website), but notifications keep coming about account.

I love 2.1. You just have to reset your home screen and sync your accounts. Finally, I can access my Yahoo! mail.
I got the OTA update for 2.1 on my unrooted Android 1.5 Eris today. How do I go about rooting the phone? All the instructions I found on the Web include steps for rooting and installing 2.1 – I just need to root the new 2.1 OS.
