Sprint Hero finally gets official 2.1 upgrade; download it now

I’m just as shocked as you are: Sprint has finally released Android 2.1 for the Hero. I know, I can’t believe it either! Sure, 2.1 might be old news if Google announces Android 2.2 in a few hours as expected, but who cares? Hero users can finally upgrade from the stale Cupcake OS.
The new update is not over the air, but you can visit Sprint and grab the update, along with installation instructions. Remember that installing this update WIPES ALL YOUR PHONE DATA, so get an app to backup any important call logs, text messages, etc. that you need. The update will not do anything to content on your SD card and any app you have installed will be re-installable once you log back into the Market.
Download the update from Sprint, and you can join the ranks of using Twitter, Google Maps Navigator, and various other features only available to Android users with version 2.1.

Link for the rom brings you to their download site where the rom download DOES NOT exist. This is as of 6:42am MST.
Please stop telling it's available until you have actually checked to make sure it's there
"Sprint has finally released Android 2.1 for the Hero."
Or have they?
Have you actually been able to link to a download file?
The truth is: it's NOT available.
Same here… no file to download yet!
yes it is:http://www.htc.com/us/support/hero-sprint/downloa…
@AndrewKam That is not the 2.1 update. You linked to the HTC Sync software update. As of now, the 2.1 update is not available.
ok nevermind. there it is!
That's how you apply the update, per Sprint's instructions. When you click on the new upgrade sync software, you see this information: # Upgraded OS to Android 2.1 Éclair
# Includes enhancements to Sense UI
# Includes enhanced corporate email support
# Includes a variety of minor bug fixes.
Are you guys saying you want a ROM you can flash?
I found it here…http://www.4shared.com/file/gfPzbRcS/RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2276515_R_si.html” target=”_blank”>.http://www.4shared.com/file/gfPzbRcS/RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2276515_R_si.html
Installed, stable with no issues…you should back-up some settings and apps to your SD.
some one now if exist a rom for Robot Android cupcake based?
tancks in adanace
but how do u install it???
Hey I just downloaded the 2.1 so I don’t know what y’all are talkin bout
Weee, finally. Install was painless.
If you install this onto phones from other providers will it work? I'm on Orange in the UK.
I wouldn't recommend it. The Sprint version Hero is CDMA and completely different from the GSM Hero available on Orange. You'd probably do damage to your phone.
I’ll just have some patience, then!
