SYNC AppLink controls Android apps while you drive the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Car salesmen will pitch a bunch of features to convince you to buy the 2011 Ford Fiesta, and Android fans may be swayed by the SYNC AppLink program. AppLink will give drivers hands-free access to certain Android apps, making it possible to control apps with voice commands or buttons on the steering wheel.

Fiesta drivers will be able to stream Pandora in their car and control playback without having to fumble with a touchscreen. Another app planned for AppLink support is Stitcher smart radio, a great podcast and news/talk radio streaming app we’ve highlighted before. SYNC will support built-in apps, beamed-in apps that work via the cloud (like directions, news, weather, etc.), and “brought-in” apps that are on an Android smartphone.

I’m not much of a Ford man, but I love the idea of integration between my car and Android services. I fully expect to see this in more new cars in the future.
