Want to go to South Africa during the 2010 World Cup? T-Mobile USA contest may foot the bill

If you follow Androinica.com’s Twitter feed – and really, why shouldn’t you? – you may know that there are soccer fans around these parts. Anyone who shares our enthusiasm for the sport will be excited to know that T-Mobile USA is hosting a promotion to send 10 lucky winners to South Africa during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Starting today and running through April 19, qualified consumers can enter the TMobileFutbol.com sweepstakes for one of 10 packages that include:

  • Round-trip coach tickets to South Africa for (2) people
  • 5-night, 6-day hotel accommodations for (2) people
  • A South African city tour
  • A check for $5,000 to be applied towards taxes on value of trip and spending money

You’ll notice that list of prizes doesn’t include tickets to actual games, but I can tell you from experience that the World Cup is more than just being inside the stadium to watch each match. The atmosphere in cities and the auxiliary events attended by people from around the world is something I fondly remember when the U.S. hosted the World Cup in ’94. Besides, you can purchase tickets from secondary sources since you’re getting a free flight and hotel package.

This sweepstakes doesn’t require any purchase and is open to all legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia. Be sure to read the official rules for additional requirements on eligibility.

T-Mobile USA will also host events at select retail events for people who want to meet soccer stars and win cash or soccer-themed prizes. Visit TMobileFutbol.com for more information (The website is in Spanish by default but the English portal is available at En.T-MobileFutbol.com).
