It appears as if Sprint has realized that certain customers may see the difference in Android 1.5 and Android 2.1. This of course most likely comes because of the recent Nexus One announcement. But what it means is that Sprint is now looking to get their current Android handsets — the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment updated.
The news comes by way of a leaked internal document and while most of it was impossible to read, we can share the important parts below.
“Let your customers know we are actively working on having the Android 2.1 platform available to our Hero and Moment customers over the coming weeks.”
“Look for more information coming in April about Android 2.1 platform for Hero and Moment.”
There you have it, the official note from Sprint, of course the keywords in those above statements seem to be “coming soon” and “April.” On the positive side, April is coming soon, just about 10 days away now.
But at the same time, while this sounds good, lets remember that the 2.1 update for the Motorola Droid (yes I realize that is a Verizon phone) was expected to happen and even given a date. In short, lets be happy for Hero and Moment owners but at the same time remember that delays are not only possible but likely.
