The LG GT540 Swift will cost only £199.99 to preorder at Play.com. And just in case you were wondering, that’s £199.99 SIM-Free and unlocked, not a carrier subsidy. Play even throws free delivery in the mix, making this a rather surprising deal for anyone willing to pre-order the phone that ships on April 30.
The Swift is LG’s second foray into Android after last year’s Eve. The phone has a 3-inch screen, 3.15 megapixel camera, up to 32GB microSD slot, stereo FM radio playback, and media playback that supports MP4, DivX,H.264/H.263/WMV. It’s not going to win any awards for most powerful phone, but it may be just what some people want when searching for a relatively simple Android phone. The Swift is comparatively cheaper than other Android smartphones and would most likely appeal to entry-level smartphone buyers.
Here’s a video shot at CES that features the Swift. At the time, LG had just announced the phone and it was running Android 1.5. I’m not sure if it has been updated to a newer version yet.
