Archos 7 and 8 Home Tablets announced; and that’s all I have to say about that

Archos has announced two new Android-based media devices designed for use in the home and on the go. The Archos 7 Home Table is a Wi-Fi enabled device with a 7-inch touchscreen, USB connectivity for transfer between PC’s and digital cameras, and 7 hours of battery life. The Archos 8 Home tablet is a digital photo frame with web browsing capabilities and 4GB of space.

Temper your excitement because these devices come with 600 MHz processors rather than the Snapdragon beasts we’d all desire. Not to mention that the storage space is incredibly low at only 4GB for $179 in the US and 149 Euro in Europe. It will be tough for the 7 device to eek out a place in the tablet and personal media player markets. I could maybe see this catching on with parents who just need something to occupy their kids without paying for the extra storage space available in other media devices.

Both devices come with a custom user interface layered over Android.
