Is the Droid Eris being replaced by the HTC Incredible?
March 10, 2010 | by Robert Nelson

According to BerryScoop, who claim to have received word from a “trusted source,” the Droid Eris is about to be replaced. It seems that the Droid Eris will be EOL’d (end-of-life) on April 1, 2010. Now normally I would recommend any would be purchasers in holding off a few weeks before making a purchase, but I really like the Droid Eris, and EOL or not it still feels like a very capable phone. And a phone that will be that much better once it gets a 2.x update.
But that aside, by coincidence or maybe by planning the HTC Incredible is also expected to become available around the same time. In other words it appears as if the HTC Incredible is going to be the replacement to the Droid Eris.
Anyway, in the end this is nothing more than rumor and speculation at this point. That said it does seem like a logical path.

So if an eris is returned due to a manufacturing defect or through an insurance claim, would VZW replace it with the incredible?
Just depends on how many refurbished or repair stock they have left.. but it's all whether they consider the Incredible to be a "comparable" device.
Unlikely. As with most warranty/insurance claims they would give you a refurbished Eris until those are no longer available.

No. They would give you a phone that was or equal/less value… and the Incredible will be priced more than the Eris.
