Nexus One gets stock multitouch and bug fixes UPDATE: Video

Nexus One owners can start looking to their phones in anticipation of a new over-the-air update set to begin today. The new update will provide several new features and bug fixes for critical features, including the headline-grabbing support for pinch-to-zoom functionality (multitouch). Though I think the feature’s a little overrated, you’re probably pleased to hear that the Browser, Gallery, and Maps apps will now have pinch-zoom.

The announcement was posted to the Nexus board and announced on Twitter via Android team member Romain Guy. The update will also include the following changes:

  • Google Goggles is now accessible directly from the Apps menu
  • Bug fixes for the 3G problems that Nexus One users have experienced since launch
  • Google Maps gets a new version (3.4) that syncs starred items with the desktop version of GMaps, syncs search history from phone or desktop, and a night mode in Google Maps Navigator that adjusts the screet at night so it is easier to read

A message will appear on the phone’s notification bar with download instructions. Enjoy N1′ers.
