Rogers branded HTC Magic also pulled due to 911 calling issues

We recently saw the news that Rogers was temporarily pulling the HTC Dream due to issues calling 911. Well, it seems that the Dream was not the only affected handset, and the Magic has also fallen into that same category. According to a statement from Rogers;

“We are in the process of contacting all of our Magic customers by text message asking them to disable GPS location on their Rogers HTC Magic device to ensure all 911 calls complete.”

Bottom line, the Magic is having the same issue as the Dream and that means that Magic users may have issues calling 911. The temporary fix is to disable the GPS location. That can be done by heading to Menu -> Settings -> Location and then unchecking “Enable GPS Satellite.”

Finally, this is a known issue with Rogers, and while they did offer a temporary fix they are working on a software fix that is said to be “available as soon as possible.”
