Despite what everyone thought earlier today, it turns out that Walmart will not be selling the Nexus One. Several people expressed excitement at the possibility of Walmart selling the N1 for as little as $99 with contract, but that has been proven false according to a statement from the company’s spokesman Ravi Jariwala.
Though the Warlmart wireless site listed the Nexus One as an item for sale, Jariwala has said:
“Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time.”
It’s a little strange that a “Technical error” would cause the phone to be listed mistakenly if Walmart really has no plans to carry the Nexus One. If the company doesn’t plan on selling it, why would they waste time loading it into their system and making this a possible mistake? Is Walmart just covering itself because its still in talks with Google or did some bored employee decide to spice things up while taking a break from TPS Reports?
Either way, we have a winner for Disappointment of the Day.
