DoubleTwist sync software coming to T-Mobile Android phones

T-Mobile USA is looking to fix one of the biggest holes in Google’s mobile platform by partnering with DoubleTwist for its multimedia syncing software for all its Android phones.

The myTouch 3G Fender Edition was the first T-Mobile phone to come preloaded with the software, and TechCrunch said the deal will eventually extend to multiple handsets. DoubleTwist is a solid multimedia management solution that enables you to add or remove photos, videos, music, and playlists from your Android handset. Reportedly, T-Mobile will not be including access to Amazon’s MP3 store in this deal, which significantly weakens the overall usefulness of the software.

The lack of an included multimedia syncing program has been kind of a pain with Android. Google is taking a cloud-based approach to this and while I think this is the right path eventually, I think a solution like DoubleTwist is needed for the platform to reach a broad audience in the short term.
