In Apps Alert 13, we highlight two apps that secured thousands of downloads this week, and one that’s less known but probably useful to some. There’s a new homescreen/lockscreen replacement, a new Twitter application, and a dating app for people who juggle several suitors. Without further ado, here are this week’s apps.

Slide Screen ($6.99, FREE Lite)

This isn’t your Daddy’s homescreen app. Slide Screen Pro is an enterprise-oriented app that provides information at a glance. Quickly see your missed calls, SMS messages, emails, and calendar appointments on one screen in an instant. Slide Screen also sneaks in a stock reader for Google Finance, RSS feeds in Google Reader, and Twitter, including support for Twidroid. Larva Labs is currently developing support for Facebook, multiple emails and Twitter accounts, and more features for news and Twitter.

If you’re married or in a committed relationship, keep scrolling. However, if you’re a serial dater balancing a “roster” of male or female companions, aBlackbook may be for you. As the name implies, this app is a phone-based version of a little black book. Users are able to create rosters that track their many dates and apply ratings to each entry. Notes can be applied for added information to a date’s profile to help keep events/information in order.

Tweetcaster ($4.99 Pro, Free Lite)

Twidroid is still reigns supreme in the eyes of many Android Twitter users, but that won’t stop developers from trying to take the crown. The latest entrant into the crowded Android Twitter app market is Tweetcaster, a new app from Handmark. Tweetcaster includes two themes, support for multiple account management, lists, favorites, and the standard Twitter functions users come to expect. If you’re in the market for a new way of reading repetitive trending topics and mundane updates, Tweetcaster is worth considering.
