HTC Hero successor to be announced during Mobile World Congress 2010

I will first state that finding out any successful, or even remotely successful phone will be getting a follow device is not all that much reason to celebrate. However in the case of the HTC Hero it is worth mentioning — mainly because it does not feel like it has been around for all that long of a time to even need a successor. Granted its been available in Europe longer than here in the US.

That said, the news comes by way of HTC Sweden exec Patrik Andersson who has stated that the Hero successor will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress which will take place in Barcelona this coming February.

Of course, that is not going to make the current Hero handsets magically disappear and reappear as a shiny new phone. But still it is interesting to see this come about so quickly. It also does make you wonder which carriers (US and globally) will be picking up the new Hero. Anyway, here is to skipping right past CES and looking forward to see what goodies come out of MWC 2010.
