Dolphin Browser brings multi-touch to Android web browsing

It seems that we have a new, or more accurately a newly found web browser available in the Android Market that offers multi-touch for the Droid, Hero and Cyanogen. Based on what I have found, the Dolphin Browser has been around for a little while, however this recent update, which brought it up to version 1.2.9.1 added the multi-touch support. Additionally according to the change log, this version also has the cache moved onto the SD card and corrected some bugs that caused the browser to crash.
Other features of the Dolphin Browser include easy sharing on social networks, the ability to sync with Google Bookmarks, a smart address bar which is auto-completion from your history and more, RSS detection and subscription with Google Reader, fast window switching, an all-in-one start page and more.
In short, there seems to be plenty of features — enough that I am willing to give this a go. And maybe this is the iPhone user in me that is speaking, but I am happy to have the multi-touch. Of course, I have not really been a fan of the default browser and have been mostly using Opera Mini for my Android browsing needs so I do not need all that much in terms of convincing.
The Dolphin Browser can be found using the QR Code (below) or by searching for “Dolphin Browser” in Android Market.

going through the pre-set bookmarks is kind of scary. there is a ton of porn sites. i uninstalled just to not be tempted.. it also made me wonder if they would be using any of my info maliciously.. a little too scary for me.
I tried the browser and its good. But the Hero browser already has multi touch support buil in. Although the multi touch experience is much better in Dolphin than in the default
The Pinch zoom is terrible as it only zooms in increments like + – zoom. It also works horibly with auto text format. We need real pinch zoom.
haha the end of the video says Design your future Android Broser for yourself! hell yeah bro!
i want try it on my p1
This means nothing. If your smartphone is data-dependent, liek a G1, iPhone, Droid, etc, then you want 3G service. So if you have a G1, are you going to unlock it and go to AT&T? If so, you are going to have to live with EDGE. If you unlock your iPhone, you can go to TMO and live on EDGE. Can you take your Droid to Sprint and get 3G? I dunno. For GSM phones, unlocking doesn't solve the 3G band problem. Unlocking means nothing in these scenarios.
Excellent read! I enjoy your site very much.
And the first screen of the video has Android spelled wrong….
