Clear Channel Radio, one of the largest media conglomerates in the U.S., has announced that its popular iheartradio app will arrive for Android devices by Christmas. Already available on iPhone and BlackBerry platforms, the Android iheartradio application will give users a chance to listen to almost 400 radio stations.
iheartradio streams popular local radio stations, digital-only channels from artists like Christina Aguilera or Megadeth, White House Briefs, and on-demand content. The app makes it possible to listen to your favorite local radio station in Chicago even if you are away on business in Detroit.
According to the press release announcing iheartradio’s conversion to Android, there will be a Verizon Wireless-only version of iheartradio for Blackberry phones. It remains to be seen if some of those features will also appear on the debut version of the app for Droid and Droid Eris users.
