We have seen the reports of lose battery covers on the Motorola DROID, and despite there being a pretty simple fix floating around online, it seems that Verizon or at least one Verizon tech decided that this issue was a good way to apply the company logo in one more place.
According to Flickr user Anticitizen, he took his Motorola DROID into a Verizon store to see what they could do, and they gave his phone a band-aid. Yup a Verizon branded sticker that looks like a band-aid. Personally, I would be pissed, and it seems Anticitizen was not all that happy either.
Took my phone to the Verizon store, and this is their solution.
It’s better than what the original rep tried to do, which is put scotch tape on it.
IMO, for a $200 phone, this is unacceptable.
But that aside, I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that even Anticitizen will be happy with that solution after seeing this other damaged DROID. Phandroid blogger Anthony Perez had the worst of the worst happen. His DROID fell out of his pocket while getting out of the car and fell to its death on a (as he puts it) “cold hard parking lot.” Then perhaps in an effort to tease him just a little bit, the DROID still worked fine. Albeit with a cracked display. But on the positive side, he did give us the lesson learned from this incident;
Motorola Droid + Sweat Pants = Epic Fail!
So there you have it, don’t go to Verizon with your lose battery door if you don’t want a band-aid, and don’t carry your DROID in the pocket of your sweatpants.

This is why I won't sit down with my phone in my pocket. I can't stand scratches/dings on my phone, so dropping on anything is a no-no. I always take my phone out of my pocket before sitting down as they have a tendency to find their way out as I'm driving.

Is this a case for high quality plastic screens over glass? Any way to find out the breakage ratio for plastics (like in the G1, others?) vs glass?
