T-Mobile now offers customers ability to pay for Android apps with their bill
December 10, 2009 | by Evan Selleck

It’s been a little bit more than a rumor for some time now that T-Mobile was planning on giving its customers this ability, and it looks like the update has begun rolling out. And apparently T-Mobile likes to do things all sneaky-like, because the update began last night, without any kind of warning or indication.
Much like every other Over-the-Air update released to phones, this update is coming in waves as well. It’s expected to be available to every Android customer on T-Mobile’s network by December 30th. So how does it work? It’s pretty simple, actually. You’ll head to the Marketplace just as you normally would and go about purchasing an application you like. Once you go through the quick process, a pop-up will appear that lets you choose to “Bill my T-Mobile account” or “Use a credit card”. Yeah, just like that. And no, there’s nothing you need to do on your end to get the update, either. It will just happen.
While we’re excited for options, how many Android users out there are actually going to use this? Personally, I’ve always considered cell phone bills to be so unstable as it is, that adding a random expense like an app would just send things into a downward spiral, impossible to recover from. Or, I could be embellishing a bit. So what do you think? Checking your phone right now for the update?

I think overall it's good news for some people. Personally, I just prefer to use my Google account.

I wonder how this would effect refunds?
Good question, Dominick. Refunds aren't affected by the additional payment method. Refunds are still handled within the first 24 hours. If you purchase an app, you can get it refunded without hassle within 24 hours. They don't make a charge on your account, or credit card, until that 24 hour mark.
In Germany where many people still don´t have a credit card, this would possibly a big hit for the android market and help developers of german apps. But while Germany is T-Mobile´s home country it doesn´t seem like this features will coming soon …

I think this is great news! It will be good for users with out credit cards or who don't want to use them. And it should help developers sell more apps. Personally, I'd rather have my phone related expenses on my phone bill, not my credit card.
