This latest report is really just confirming an earlier report in regards to the price of the HTC Droid Eris. Basically, we are now seeing leaked documents that have confirmed the Eris will be priced at $99.
According to Engadget, who were the ones that received the leaked docs, these docs have come on “pretty reasonable authority.” In other words it seems this is just about as close to being official as it can be, that said things can and do from time to time change.
As of now, it looks like the Droid Eris will join the Motorola Droid on the November 6 launch day with Verizon Wireless. Feature wise, the Droid Eris is very similar to the HTC Hero, which may make for a few angry Sprint customers.
With that, the Droid Eris is also running the Sense UI and has a 528MHz processor, 3.2-inch display and 5-megapixel camera. Software wise, the Droid Eris will ship with Android 1.5, which again is just like the Hero. One change, aside from the fact that the Eris is $80 cheaper than the Hero is that it is also shipping with an 8GB microSD card, which is much nicer as compared to the 2GB card that is shipping with the Sprint branded HTC Hero.
All things considered though, is that this release will offer Verizon, or potential Verizon customers a nice option on whether they want the Motorola Droid, or the HTC Eris with the Sense UI. Personally I am really enjoying the Sense UI, even if I am still technically a little behind everyone else with Android 1.5.
