Dell Mobility offering the DROID for $119.99 after instant discount and 2-year commitment

There shouldn’t be any doubt by now that the Motorola DROID is doing very well. Reviews all over the place gave it great reviews, and there were a few people out there who said it could rival AT&T’s iPhone. And if you were lucky enough to get one, then this article is probably something you want to shy away from. If you’ve been waiting for something like a miracle to happen regarding that lofty price tag offered by Verizon proper, here you go. You only had to wait two weeks, right? That’s not bad at all.
Dell Mobility is offering the DROID for a mere $119.99 with a new, two-year contract. But, that’s not just for new customers. Nope, that includes contract extensions too. So even if you’re not eligible for an upgrade, but want to get into some of that DROID action, looks like now would be a great time to strike. Plus, you get free FED-EX shipping, so that’s a nice bonus, too.
Black Friday is just around the corner pretty much, so it will be interesting to see if Verizon does anything to stir up sales on their own end. Will the DROID see an even bigger price reduction? Or will Big Red fore go any kind of deals, and just let other retailers reap up the rewards after their huge release just two weeks ago? We’ll have to wait and see. But, what about you, did you just find a way to talk yourself into getting one of the hottest Android devices on the market?

If only there was a way for people who bought it the day it came out to receive money back as the price drops. Dang.

uhm…this is NOT a good sign for Verizon/Motorola/Google folks. It's simple economics. Supply is higher than demand = they cut the price. I'm fearing Droid was just a flash in the pan. The fact that Apple has not and does not cut their prices in any distribution location is a sign that Android and Verizon still have a big problem on their hands. Maybe if Verizon weren't such idiots with their advertising. I mean really…they're targeting geeks? Geeks are already sold Verizon. You better fire that NY agency and cast a wider net. But then again…price drops after 2 weeks probably already signal they're hoping for a hit with the next one. kinda a sad display.
I'm not so sure that they are targeting geeks. I work at a high school and I couldn't believe how many girls loved the dark droid ads. When I got mine, almost everyone wanted to check it out and most really liked it.
Android app store is so hard to use I would think only geeks would want to deal with it. If you want a phone that easy to use with lots of apps the IPhone would be the phone to get.
Agree with Carl. Price drop this early says that Droid is not selling as hoped. I fear it's just us geeks that are walking around with them
@Carl and @Trent, While that may be true, a reported 250,000 DROIDS have moved from Verizon store shelves since its release. For an Android phone, and for a phone on the Verizon Wireless network, those are spectacular numbers. You could be right though, about the phone being solely in the palms of geeks around the United States, but from what I've been hearing from retail store employees and managers, that's not the case. Keep in mind that this is Dell Mobility dropping the price, and not Verizon. They -could- drop the price for Black Friday, but there's no reports of that happening. So, as of right now, Verizon's steep price tag is still alive and well for the phone. It is perfectly possible that Dell Mobility (and other retail outlets) were given way too much stock, and this is the result.
Why is this a huge deal for upgraders? I went through the vzw website and got an upgrade price of $99.99 and that included free next-day shipping. No mail-in rebates or anything else tacked on.
remember when after less then 2 months the Apple lowered the price of the iPhone and gave the early adopters a 100 Apple gift card? @Carl…. do u remember?
I paid $550 dollars for my iphone 3 months later it was $200 so I don't think a price drop is a sign of anything. They need to lower the price as much as possible.
For those saying that this is a sign that the phone isn't selling, I wouldn't take it that way at all. This is no big deal…I got mine on the ninth for $99.99 from Wirefly. The next day it had gone back up to $129.99, but still a big discount.

Please Please Please do nooootttt eveeeer buyy from DEEEELLLLL..Run from them, their egift card is hoax, it is near to impossible to use them. Bought a camera from dell website using the egift card, but they charged it to my credit card. Now my only option is to return the item at my cost to get my money back. Been talking to dell for 2 days now, they keep sending me back and forth between departments..So guys please don’t ever trust them.
