Black Friday will be a great day for Android fans thinking of getting a new phone. Best Buy announced that it will be selling several Android phones for $99 to users who activate a new 2-year agreement. The included phones are the Sprint HTC Hero or Samsung Moment, T-Mobile myTouch 3G or Motorola Cliq, and Verizon Droid Eris.
Each phone will be available at Best Buy stores across the U.S. on Nov. 27, one of the busiest shopping days of the year. The $99 deal is available only to customers starting a new contract, and comes with an instant discount that does not require any kind of mail-in rebate. We’ve already seen a few of these phones at a low price, but this will be a chance for people thinking of switching to Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon to get a new Android phone at a nice discount.

Is there a way to buy any of these phones, forget the contract, unlock the phone and take it out of the US?

Fernando, it depends on where you live. The Moment, Hero, and Eris are CDMA phones and few countries other than the U.S. and Canada use that, so you may have difficulty unlocking them for use outside the U.S. You could buy a Mytouch or CLIQ and unlock it with a SIM card on another carrier, but both phones are available elsewhere as the Magic or DEXT, so it would be easier to just purchase it from Amazon or Expansys.

As far as I remember, best buy selling the Hero without a contract for maybe $599. But yeah it is still CDMA, so you still need to use it US. They do not have GSM, even tho the original HTC Hero had the GSM capabilities, it is not available in Sprint Hero.

Hey guys thanks for the input. I guess it's better to buy unlocked instead. A couple of friends of mine are trying to buy iPhones and skip the contract.
I feel it's my duty to convince to go Android.
Cheers!

Retail on it is almost $900, so you might consider the Droid which will get you a lot of similar functionality for $199 w/ 2 yr contract.

Walmart is selling the Eris for $30. Much better deal than Best Buy or Amazon.
