Have you gone through the Twitter clients available in the Market already, and just haven’t been able to pick one that you like? Or, you know, one that you use more than another one? If that’s you, then here’s another application that will surely make you happy. Or just frustrate you some more. It’s Seesmic, a pretty well refined Twitter application that lets you do a lot of things, but misses the mark in a key area.

I’ll just come right out and say it: widgets. It’s not only a fun word, but a word that embodies a very important component to the Android system. Sure, there are a lot of applications in the market that don’t utilize this great system, but let’s face it; without a widget, some applications just fall flat on their face. And unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to this great app. Functionally, it works and looks great; even if the tabs at the top of the screen are a bit too large. It runs smooth, there’s a plethora of options to take advantage of: retweeting, direct messages, and even going into people’s profiles and look at who’s following them, who they’re following, and their favorite tweets. These features go beyond what the other leading Twitter app (Twidgit Lite) can do, so that’s a bonus in Seesmic’s corner.

Too much is never enough, is how I think that saying goes, and in this case, that’s probably true. Seesmic will work great for many users out there, but if you’re looking for a widget that updates, and shows you tweets right there on the homescreen, then Seesmic isn’t the way to go. At least not yet. An update could easily remedy this ailment, and if that does happen, we can’t see why Seesmic wouldn’t find its way onto every Android owner’s phone. Unless, of course, you don’t tweet.
