Android is the new Windows Mobile according to LAPTOP Editor-in-Chief Mark Spoonauer. And he means that in a good way.
In his weekly column, Spoonauer argues that the fragmentation of Android from one device to the next is leading Google’s mobile OS to prosperity. He praises MOTOBLUR and Sense, citing them as examples of how this differentiation between devices helps Android advance.
Despite recent news that Motorola is ignoring Windows Mobile in favor of Android and my belief that Microsoft is in denial regarding the strength of WinMo 6.5, I was surprised by this development. Keep in mind; this is the same Mark Spoonauer who previously treated Android as an “also-ran” among smartphone operating systems. Now he’s recognized Android’s viability and sees its potential.

I agree i was a big fan of WinMo due to its openness 5 years ago but again that was 5 years ago. Android to me offered the openness that i enjoy with stability and allows me to get apps a much easier way. Warranted everyone now has jumped on the app storebiz. Side note Andrew remember yesterday when we were discussing T-Mo and it lacking in the Arena compared to the other big phone companies. Have you heard anything about this "Project Black" ? hopefully this is what we were talking about as far as them progressing to the forefront of the industry.
