Amazon’s Kindle is the undisputed King of Ereaders…for now. Today, Barnes & Noble unveiled Nook, an Android-based ereader likely to challenge Kindle for its crown.

Nook is a dual-screen reader, something that’s become a bit of trend recently. The reader features a 6-inch e-ink display, a 3.5-inch color screen for Touch Control & Navigation, 2GB storage and microSD expansion, and support for 3G and Wi-Fi.  The touchscreen is used for swiping through libraries or searching with a virtual keyboard to access content.

Barnes & Noble will distribute eBooks wirelessly with in-store Wi-Fi access and 3G provided free to the consumer by AT&T. Users can also lend books to a friend with the LendMe technology, which allows users to send a book to a friend’s Nook, iPhone, iPod touch, select BlackBerry/Motorola phones, or computers with B & N eReader software.
