Android 2.0 (Eclair) spy shots leak onto the Internet

Android 2.0 may not be finished yet, but that hasn’t stopped the next major overhaul of the Android operating system from stepping out a little early. Boy Genius Report has acquired a Motorola Droid (Sholes) that’s running Android 2.0 (Eclair), and they have posted a large gallery of spy shots that let us know what the next stage of Android will look and feel like. Contacts, search, map, graphics, and other things have been tweaked in 2.0, showcasing some features sure to leave competing phones in the dust.

There’s still a large chunk of Android users who are waiting on Donut to hit their phones, and it appears that people who buy the Sprint Hero or Samsung Moment will be waiting quite some time to get the 1.6 update. Few of them will care once they see the interface and feature changes Google is set to deliver with Eclair. It looks like that oversized statue landing at the Google campus means we’re close to getting a full look at 2.0 after all.
