Score one for the little guys. Regional carrier Cellular South has announced that it will provide the Sprint version of the HTC Hero to its customers. Two months after Cellular South first announced on July 21 that it would deliver an Android phone in 2009, the southern carrier has all but confirmed that promise with today’s announcement.
Cellular South is a regional carrier that mostly serves customers in the United States’ Gulf Coast region. Customers in certain parts of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee will have another option for purchasing the Hero should they choose not to embrace Sprint. I don’t know anyone who has been a Cellular South customer, so I cannot speak on the quality of cell service. Everybody loves options, right?
Subscribers who live within the CS service area can register for updates to be notified when more release information will be delivered. A video demo is also available, but you’ve probably seen it already if you’re familiar with Sense UI.
