Mystery Android MID, thy name is Rockchip concept device

The mystery Android Mobile Internet Device (MID) that has been circulating the net has been identified as the Rockchip concept designed to show off the powers of its Chinese chip maker. The device is just a prototype to illustrate the RK2808 720p decoding chipset — not a product set for general release. That means you probably won’t get your hands on it as it’s not currently intended for consumers. Maybe a company would be so impressed that they work out a deal to bring it to market, but there doesn’t seem to be a plan for that right now.

The Rockchip MID first appeared as an unnamed media device, showing only that it was a MID running Android. No branding appeared on the exterior and nothing was known about its internal power. PCOnline has managed to see the Rockchip prototype in a couple of videos posted below.
