Motorola is increasing its support for the Google Android platform by launching more advanced development resources, including new programs, events, and training. In addition to hosting a MOTODEV Summit in San Diego, Calif., on October 6, 2009, the company will implement a number of training and marketing tools geared towards Android developers.

A highlight from today’s announcement includes the MOTODEV App Accelerator Program, which allows developers to submit their apps to Motorola for a chance to increase their visibility and strengthen their apps. The program provides technical support, pre-release access to Motorola Android devices for testing, Motorola engineer support on private forums, and non-Android-Market distribution.

Another development tool is the MOTODEV Studio for Android Beta that will be released to the public. The Eclipse-based Studio supplies design tools, emulators, interfaces, app creation wizards, code templates, and marketing information. We previously mentioned Motorola cozying up to developers, and this adds on to the company’s efforts to “foster innovation, accelerate time to market, and deliver the most personal and customized mobile experiences for consumers,” according to Motorola executive Christy Wyatt.
