T-Mobile sending out myTouch 3G media event invitations for July 8

In preparation for the July 8 pre-order availability of the myTouch 3G, T-Mobile has begun sending out invitations to special media event. Overall, nothing terribly exciting here, especially considering we have already seen the official release information in regards to the myTouch 3G, however it is refreshing to see T-Mobile making a fuss over the new handset.

Just to offer a quick recap, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, which has already been seen as the HTC Magic and more recently as the Google ION, will be featuring a 3.2-inch display, 3.2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi as well as having support for T-Mobile’s ever expanding 3G network.

Thankfully the release date (at least for those that will be able to take advantage of the pre-order) is getting closer and closer, at this point we are just one week away now. Anyone here planning to switch from their current G1?

I used to have the G1 – returned it because it was too bulky and had a horrible dialer.

I can't wait to get the mytouch – I hope they have fixed the dialer – I HATE how when you are inputing the phone number it doesn't have a list of recently called numbers that possibly match your input.

I also HATE how with the G1 you have to scroll down forever to acces your contacts vs. simply hitting a letter like "p" for phillip or paul or peter – like you can do on all the blackberry type phones.

The contact list should come up with a full onscreen keyboard always – scrolling sucks. And the slide out keyboard of the G1 makes it huge and unstable – impossible for one handed operation – no go for driving.

I love the user interface of a blackberry/win mobile type phone with a full keyboard – but hate the small screen.

Android needs to develop a completely new dialer – the stock one on the G1 is crap.

I’m sticking with my G1 until something like the HTC hero makes its way to t-mobile state side. I like the physical keyboard too much, and the myTouch 3G just seems like a G1 minus the keypad. Untill I see something more appeling than myTouch 3G on t-mobile, I’m sticking with my G1.

What is next for t-mobile on the Android front after myTouch 3G?
