Huawei took the time to debut its new Android phone at the CommunicAsia 2009 event in Singapore. China-based Huawei, a member of the Open Handset Alliance, showcased two phones at the event, one of them being the Android-powered U8230.

Early details of the U8230 show that the phone packs 3.5 in touch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and a 1500mAH battery. Not bad specs for a smartphone. The photo below shows the basic design of the U8230.

A Huawei spokesperson who presented the phone gave the following corporate speak:

“The U8230 and the C8000 handsets on display here at CommunicAsia take the interactivity experience of smartphones to a whole new level, and Huawei is looking forward to working with our customers to bring them to market later this year.”

Availability and pricing have yet to be determined, but VNunet reports that the second half of 2009 will see the device being released. Huawei is reportedly developing another Android phone for T-Mobile that is also slated for release later this year.
