Flickr adds Nearby functionality for Android

Flickr has just gotten a little bit cooler in terms of mobile web support, well mobile web support for Android anyway. Thanks to a recent posting over on the Flickr Blog, we have learned that the mobile web client now has location based awareness.

Use this to explore your neighborhood, or find the best places to photograph local landmarks from. Reload the page as you walk around a city, and see the things that have happened there in the past. You’ll see a place through the eyes of the flickrverse.

Android users can head on over to m.flickr.com and from there you will be able to take advantage of the built-in GPS on your device and see any photos that have been taken in the area that you are in. The photos can be viewed on the Mobile Nearby page which can be found by clicking on the “Photos taken nearby” link.
