Sherpa is now available for download from the Android Market, although it might be available in the US only (to achieve T-Mobile US exclusivity). It does not appear to come preloaded on the Mytouch3G.

I have just installed and used on my G1. I suspect it will get a lot of use going forward.

Sorry, is this just an enhancement on ‘google places’? A marketing re-hash of the ol’ ‘bluetooth’ push advertising but with a few more ‘patterned’ behavour enhancements, to provide you a better service of course.

I, for one, welcome our robot overloads. Orwell anyone?

I just don't like the idea of my carrier knows what I'm doing, what I like, and what I do.
The invasion of privacy far out-weights convenience of this app provides.

And I'm pretty sure it's a resident app that cannot be removed, just like the Amazon Mp3 app on G1.

I feel that this app would be quite useful when traveling and possibly looking for a new restaurant to try in your local area but other than that I agree that there will be little other use to come of the app.

Am I the only one who is not excited about this app? For me I don't see any reason why I would need this. Do I really need to be alerted to some record store in my area when I already know where they are?… no, I don't think so. I already know where all the restaurants are so I don't need Sherpa for that….. and I sure as heck don't want it feeding me ad's of of something it feels is relevant to me……… in fact I don't want it feeding me ad's at all!

If I decide to drop my cash on the new MyTouch when it hits the stores I hope this is an app that can be deleted off the device cuz I just don't see myself using it…………….. but I have been wrong about things before so who knows. It could be a good thing for some people…. but I'm just not too worked up about it.

I was curious about what "exclusivity" T-Mobile is claiming also. I would love to try this app out on a G1. We will have to wait and see.
