Sony Ericsson talks Android; looking towards first handset running Android 2.0 and coming in the “near future”

During a recent event in Taiwan, Peter Ang, the vice president of marketing for Sony Ericsson spoke and gave some nice details about upcoming plans for Android. According to statements made by Ang, Sony Ericsson is adding additional resources to work on an Android smartphone. Additionally, he commented that the smartphone will be running Android 2.0 and that it will be happening “in the near future.” Sounds good so far, but there was a little more.
He also mentioned that the phone will also have Sony Ericsson’s unique style, which I can only hope remains at a minimum, I cannot help but think of the XPERIA X1.
Of course, as we are still having difficulty with the Android 1.5 update here in the US it is hard to imagine that Android 2.0 is going to be available anytime soon.
