How to install US Cupcake immediately

Sick of playing the waiting game for T-Mobile USA to roll out Cupcake? Well, quit the game and install Cupcake right now. Yes, right now, with no rooting required.
Late last night, I was linked to a simple tutorial showing how to download and install the US version of Android 1.5 firmware. Within 15 minutes, I had Cupcake on my phone.
The process is incredibly simple and as idiot-proof as something like this can be. However, from a legal standpoint, I must say that you could possibly damage your phone. Androinica accepts no responsibility for errors and you do this at your own risk. If you wish to proceed, follow the steps to updating your phone.
- Download update
- Put it on your SD card’s main folder
- Turn phone off
- Type a few commands
- Reboot the phone and wait a few minutes
- Cupcake party.

Thanks for the link. I just updated and it works like a charm. I notice everything seems to respond faster.
thank you so much. this helps alot
Andrew – Does this void warranty in any way? I'm waiting on a replacement G1 and will have to eventually send back in the one I'm currently using. Would hate for them to then say I voided warranty and charge me $367+ for the device! Thanks! -Johnny
your warranty should remain in tact because this is the standard update that is going out over the air to T-Mo customers. unless there's a major error when installing, your warranty should remain.
Thanks, worked great — in the Market there's this cool thing called "Spare Parts", it enables you to tweak a few UI thinks on Cupcake (like the onscreen keyboard) which is well worth the time to d/l and install, IMHO.
