DroidIn is Android’s first LinkedIn app

Android Apps, Commmunication, Free apps
Professional networking website LinkedIn has been given the Android treatment in two apps recently added to the Android Market. DroidIn and its free counterpart, DroidIn Lite, offer LinkedIn members a chance to follow the latest activity of the popular job search and networking website. Users can view or edit their profile, read recent activities of their professional connections, and browse their network to connect with others.
While both versions of the app are open to LinkedIn members, only the $2 paid version of DroidIn has certain features. Anyone who wants to use the search function or avoid Google Ads will have to pony up for the paid version.
UPDATE: DroidIn supports sending messages within LinkedIn, contrary to the original post. Though there isn’t a direct link to the Inbox, clicking on a user’s profile provides a link to send that person a message. Thanks to Bo for pointing that out.
Both DroidIn and DroidIn Lite can be located in the ‘Communication’ section of the Android Market.

Andrew thanks for noticing my humble effort. Couple of thing though: DroidIn does support sending messages to contacts through their profiles. I didn’t bother with “Send Invite” since it requires user to provide email address of the person they wish to contact. On the second thought – I’ll add this just to make DroidIn match m.linkedin.com features. I’m hard at work to improve the app with moving network calls on the background to get rid of nagging “terminate/wait” screen. I’m also planning on adding some unique features not available in mobile version. Thanks, Bo Stone (the author)
Hi Bo, Can you provide a direct download link of the free version’s APK? I’ve tried to download from Android Market a couple of days ago but it was nowhere to be found. I’m using ADP1 from Europe. Thanks in advance! Cheers! Shonzilla
Good idea. I added link on DroidIn site (http://droidin.bostone.us)
Does this have anything to do with the droidin.com website or is that something different? I did not see anything on that site about the Android Mobile app. Thanks!
The guy who opened the site simply took the name and my logo from LinkedIn account. It's a blog-aggregator, dead on arrival
Andrew and all. Within past two days I posted very important upgrades to DroidIn that fixes a lot of issues users were complaining about. Please give it a try
what is the sense of having this application if you cannot view your linkedin inbox. Why is linkedin so far behind facebook and twitter?
What about integrating the with the directory like facebook does? It would be nice to have a place to update professional contacts online (I do mine in gmail right now, but they aren't self maintained).
Hi, I think the best feature will be integrating the phoneboox (people) with linkedin, as facebook is now. So far, no luck on this matter
Would very much like to have the integration to the phonebook. What extra features are available in the paid version?
He guys, thanks for your feedback. I'm affraid that DroidIn becomes somewhat dated so I'm planning on major updates. When and how I can't say but I am thinking about it. Your suggestions are all valid and I will take these to consideration when coding new version. As for paid features there' practically no difference except paid ads but it does perform faster simply because these ads don't have to be pulled from network
Can you take a cue from the iPhone version or the BB version and use the visual interface and the ease of use aspect when you update….
The work is started on v. 2 of DroidIn so stay posted
I am using the droidin-lite edition downloaded and installed on android 1.6 today 1st sept. I keep getting invalid username or password back from linkein. I go to the linkedin site on my laptop and carefully type the same user/password combination with care to have the caps off on both cases… I can login on my laptop but the droidin fails. I can get the twitter part to accept the twitter login and therefore get updates…but for some reason the login to linkedin is not working.. I can probably supply logs from alogcat if that helps. thoughts ??
Looks like the developer has posted in the Droid Marketplace that the app isn't working due to LinkedIn adding CAPTCHA security to their mobile site. Hope it gets fixed soon!
So they say on web site. In my case DroidIn is crashing on Android 2.1
Dear friends, DroidIn 2 – much improved and now "native" hits the Android market. Please upgrade and give it a try. Sorry for long delay – this app is a complete rewrite My recent post Attention! DroidIn is broken
