Despite any geek cred they may offer, I am not all that into robots, however being able to remotely control a robot from an Android handset is pretty cool. The robot is the Surveyor SRV-1, which can be built with a variety of different options including multiple cameras and even Wi-Fi. The robot itself retails for $475 with those extras adding upwards of $325 for a camera and Wi-Fi kit. As far as the controller, that is able to be downloaded directly from the Google Code website.
Pretty cool stuff, the phones display shows the view as the robot would see, and it is controlled by the accelerometer on the phone. In the meantime, the video below shows just how much fun it can be to control a robot with a G1.
