Rumor: Acer “A1″ Android phone coming in September
March 24, 2009 | by Andrew Kameka
Acer, Android Phones, Rumors
Acer the PC maker will supposedly become Acer the mobile phone maker in September. The Philippine Business Mirror quotes an unnamed source as saying that Acer will release the A1, a touchscreen Android phone, in September. Acer has already shown prototypes of its first phone but has revealed no details about its Android offering other than to confirm it exists. No information about features, price, or availability has emerged from our buddy, Unnamed Source.
A September release date actually matches the Acer roadmap spotted during MWC last month. This source could just be quoting that roadmap or legitimately confirming something we already suspected. Whatever the case may be, let’s hope Acer fares better than the last major PC company to attempt to develop an Android phone.
