KTF in talks with Samsung, LG to develop Android-based handsets for Korea

Previously we have seen reports that KTF was looking to launch an Android handset in Korea sometime in 2009, of course, initially there was very little information. Thankfully we now able to add a little more information to this story.

The latest is suggesting that KTF has partnered with both LG and Samsung to develop their phones. As of now they are still looking to have it available sometime before the end of the year, however an official announcement has not yet been made. Additionally, it should be interesting to see which (LG or Samsung) ends up with a phone in the Korean market, because while both are said to be developing, up to now we have only seen one per area.

All-in-all I am getting pretty anxious to see some handsets really launch, often it seems like we keep hearing that 2009 will be the “year of Android” however it would be nice to see some reports of actual launches.

Additionally, there was also some mention that Google was planning to make the Android Market available “as early as Q3 2009″ of course as unwired view points out there may be some issues with that as Google currenlty requires Checkout in the Market and that is not yet available in Korea. Possibly, they will be getting a free app Market.
