Amazon currently offering the T-Mobile G1 for $97.99 [Updated]

A new deal over on Amazon has the T-Mobile G1 selling for just $97.99, which means you will see a nice $82 savings off the regular price of $179.99. Certainly a great deal for anyone looking to score a low-cost G1.

Of course, in order to secure that low price you must be willing to sign a two-year agreement for service with T-Mobile. I have a few friends that were having a tough time making a decision on getting a G1 of their own, this low price may just be enough to win them over.

The one drawback with this deal is that is appears to only be valid on the black G1, so those looking for the White or Bronze models will still have to pay $179.99. Oh well, I would think most people are opting for the black anyway. Of course, personally I still like my White G1.

[Update] It looks like Amazon has since adjusted the pricing on the white and bronze model. Initially, this special pricing was only listed for the black G1, however a recent check of Amazon shows both the white and bronze G1 also priced at $97.99.

This sucks. Just got my G1 not even a week ago. Will T-Mobile price match this? Or are they housing a similar promotion?

I have not tried in the past, but am almost certain that T-Mobile does offer price matching. It certainly cannot hurt to try, after all one phone call could save you a nice bit of money.
