HTC Magic hands-on videos, early reviews beginning to surface

The second official Android handset, the HTC Magic has just barely been announced and already we are beginning to see some hands-on video and early thoughts beginning to surface around the Internet.

So far, based on the reports I have read and the videos that I have watched, I have to say the HTC Magic looks like a winner. Although it is not a huge difference in style from the G1, the Magic does have an improved overall design. One thing that is pretty noticeable is that the Magic appears to be fairly thin as compared side-by-side with the G1, of course, it does not have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. That means, love it or hate it, the Magic only has a virtual keyboard. Personally I am wondering how long until we begin hearing complaints similar to what we are hearing from iPhone users.

Things so far are looking pretty good for the HTC Magic, which is unfortunate for myself and other users outside of the Vodafone area. Here is what a few of those lucky enough to get some hands-on time have to say;

SlashGear

“In case you hadn’t guessed, we’re excited about the Vodafone HTC Magic.”

Engadget

“Overall, we love the phone — it’s pretty much exactly what keyboard-hating, touchscreen-addled folks (like this particular editor) have been waiting for in an Android phone, other than the ones hoping we’d see Android on a Touch Pro2, that is.”

Gizmodo

“Overall, the first feeling is that we got a potential winner here. If they can manage to make the software keyboard better, Apple will definitely have a formidable enemy in the Android G2.”
