SLG Mobile have just announced the upcoming availability of BeamReader, a PDF viewer for Android. BlackBerry users may be familiar with BeamReader as it is already available, however the Android version will be available sometime in Q2 2009.
As for quality of those PDF files, BeamReader promises to deliver full fidelity (original quality) viewing. Additionally, there will not be any server-side processing required as the app will handle the document rendering natively on the G1.According to the press release, BeamReader can “render actual fonts embedded in a PDF document as opposed to using font substitutes that adversely affect the document’s look and formatting.”
Seems like it will be a welcomed addition when available, especially since we have yet to see anything from Adobe. Additionally, if Q2 is a little bit of a big time frame, you can head on over to the SLG website and sign up to be notified upon the release.
