An issue that many have complained about on Android is the lack of popup text message alerts, and a new app appears to have solved that. The app, which is appropriately named SMS Popup does pretty much what the name implies, it places a bubble like alert on the screen when you receive a message. Additionally, if you have a photo icon for the sender then that will show with the popup SMS alert.
Personally, I will not be downloading this one for myself, so others will have to comment and let me know how well it works. Considering the main reason I have a jailbroken iPhone is to suppress those annoying message popups, I can live with just the top menu alert.
SMS Popup is currently available for download in the Android Market.
