HulloMail unveils email based voicemail for Android

Android, Android Apps
UK based G1 users now have another option available when it comes to checking your voicemail, or in this case it should be better stated as checking your email because your messages are sent to your email account as an MP3 file. The new service is from HulloMail, and it officially listed as an “email based voicemail service.” The app is free to download and use, however you will have to complete a simple registration process to get up and running.
The service currently has support for MobileMe, Yahoo, AOL, Gmail and just about any other email you may want to use. In addition you are able to sync your Gmail contacts with the HulloMail service which then allows people to reply to a voicemail by a return call, email or text message. HulloMail can be found and downloaded in the Android Market. Sounds like a winner to me, unfortunately it is not available here in the US.

Hi thanks for this story. In response feedback on the app, we’ve improved the user experience with some nifty added features. There’s a button to toggle the speakerphone on and off if you want to play your messages aloud. Messages now play back via the earpiece by default to enhance privacy. When you get a new voicemail you now get both a visual and audio alert instead of a text message. You can customize the audio alert with any sound you wish. Cheers
