Recent reports are showing that T-Mobile has begun a very large ad campaign with AOL, in fact if the reports are true, they have agreed to purchase one billion impressions over a two day period. According to Michael Leamonth, the deal was somewhere in the ballpark of $1.5 million, which would place the cost per thousand at $1.50. The ads which strangely are being run through AOL and not Google Adsense will appear on sites such as TMZ, Engadget and AOL Music.
“The goal for T-Mobile was to reach as many people as possible in a short period of time,” said Platform-A President Lynda Clarizio, who estimates the campaign will reach 81 million people.
Strangely, I am not sure which sounds nicer, T-Mobile buying the ads and making the push, or the fact that AOL can offer a billion impressions in just two days time. Either way, its nice to see T-Mobile really working to keep the G1 in the eyes of the consumers, not to mention, this is just about perfect timing to begin the holiday shopping season.
