No Firefox Mobile anytime soon for Android

Some disappointing news has recently surfaced for Firefox loving Android users, it looks like we will not be getting an Android version of Firefox Mobile anytime soon. The bad news comes courtesy of Mozilla’s director of Mobile Engineering Christian Sejersen, who has stated that Firefox Mobile will not be coming to Android “now or in the near future.” Instead they are planning to focus on development for Nokia Internet Tablets as well as touchscreen and non-touchscreen versions for Windows Mobile devices. While this is not the best of news, thankfully we already have good browsing experience on the G1. Its also unclear as to what Sejersen considers the “near future.” It seems safe to say that it will not be soon, but at the same time it may be slightly encouraging that it was not stated as never.
