Facebook may not be joining MySpace in the Android Market

Despite the fact that MySpace was quick to announce a mobile app for Android, it looks like Facebook will not be joining them in the Android Market any time soon, which is sort of disappointing because they already have great apps on both the iPhone and the BlackBerry.

According to recent reports “Facebook has dedicated exactly zero resources to creating a version of the service for Android.” The reasoning behind Facebook choosing to ignore Android is because of some bad blood between them and Google. Some are suggesting that it as to do with the fact that Facebook chose Microsoft as their ad partner, of course getting a little dirtier some of the behind the scenes chatter mentioned that “Android sucks, it doesn’t matter.”

It seems that the bottom line is Facebook is just looking towards others to develop the app, stating that “Google or third parties are free to use the Facebook API to build apps using Facebook services.” Its a shame that Facebook would choose to ignore such a platform, hopefully we will see a third party developer choose to make this a project, and in the meantime any Facebook users on the G1 will be limited to the web interface.
